Japan has made some very crazy, pointless inventions. Chindogu is a Japanese art of creating erratic, useless gadgets.
There have also been some very useful, clever gadgets invented by Japan. DVD's, CD's electronic calculators and Mario are some examples. Japan has discovered pottery and literature.
Mario
Mario was invented in 1981 by Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario first appeared in Shigeru Miyamoto's first ever title, Donkey Kong. Mario was originally called Jumpman but his name was then changed because they thought it wasn't very good name.
DVDs
DVDs were invented in 1995. In the early 1900's, 2 types of optical storages were being developed; the MultiMedia Compact Disc (MMCD), sponsored by Philips and Sony, and Super Density Disc (SD), supported by Toshiba, Time-Warner and more. The MMCD was abandoned and Philips and Sony agreed on the SD, creating 2 modifications. The SD disk is what we use today.
Lipstick Template
The Lipstick Template is a stencil for applying lipstick. It was invented for people who have trouble putting on lipstick neatly.
Baby Mop
The Baby Mop was invented for teaching a baby to mop the floors at a very early age. The baby op is a onesie made of absorbent materials to easily clean up any mess on the floor. The Baby mop also comes as cat and dog mops.
